Banda Aceh (ANTARA) - TNI soldiers from Koramil 02/WPS under Kodim 0119/BM carried out a greening action along the banks of the Redelong River, which is prone to landslides, in Jamur Uluh Village, Wih Pesam Subdistrict, Bener Meriah Regency, Aceh, to prevent repeated disasters.

“This is part of our efforts to reduce the risk of disaster impacts in the Wih Pesam area,” said Danramil 02/WPS, Captain Inf Jan Suhardi, in a statement received in Banda Aceh on Saturday.

The greening activity or tree planting was focused on landslide-prone points to strengthen the soil structure on the river’s edges and mitigate future disaster risks.

Captain Inf Jan Suhardi explained that this tree planting is a strategic effort to secure the river embankment from the threat of erosion that often occurs when water discharge increases.

The Danramil emphasised the importance of maintaining ecological balance, and the harmonious relationship between humans and nature must continue to be nurtured so that the environment provides positive benefits for life.

“Care is not only for fellow humans, but we must also care for nature. If we protect nature, then nature will side with us and provide benefits,” he stressed.

On this occasion, Captain Inf Jan Suhardi appreciated all elements of society, village officials, and residents of Jamur Uluh Village who joined hands with the TNI in the tree-planting action.

He hoped that this activity would not only be symbolic, but become a long-term investment for environmental sustainability, while also strengthening the unity between the TNI and the people.

“May this synergy continue to be maintained for the preservation of the environment that will be enjoyed by future generations,” said Captain Inf Jan Suhardi.
