Mobility for residents in Silau Laut subdistrict, Asahan Regency, has now become smoother following the completion of a modular bridge construction in Lubuk Palas village by Kodim 0208/Asahan along with personnel from Yonzipur 1/Dhira Dharma. This bridge serves as a new vital link connecting Lubuk Palas village with Silau Baru village, on Sunday (29/3). The construction of this bridge represents a swift response from the Indonesian Army (TNI AD) in addressing the accessibility barriers that have long been a concern for the local community.

With the completion of this project, the bridge can now be traversed by vehicles to support the daily activities of the community. Kapendam I/Bukit Barisan, Colonel Inf Asrul Kurniawan Harahap, stated that the finishing of this infrastructure is a tangible manifestation of the TNI’s commitment to helping the difficulties faced by the people in remote areas.

“The presence of this bridge is expected to facilitate the mobility of residents, ease the distribution of agricultural products and economic activities, as well as improve the welfare of the community in the region,” said Asrul through his official statement on Monday (30/3).

The bridge construction was carried out in stages with high safety standards. It began with an in-depth survey to determine the load capacity, followed by the pouring of concrete foundations on both sides of the river. The uniqueness of this project lies in the collaboration between Yonzipur technicians, personnel from Koramil 07/Air Joman, and the local community who worked together to assemble the modular frame on-site until forming the main structure.

“After the main frame was formed, the final stage was carried out by installing floor plates and embankment ramps as access to and from the bridge. The Red and White flag symbol at the site became a sign of the spirit of dedication in this construction,” he added.

Previously, residents of the two villages had to travel longer distances or use makeshift means to distribute their farm produce. With the presence of this modular bridge, agricultural logistics costs are expected to be reduced, and access to education for schoolchildren will become safer.
