Indonesian Military Commander Issues Level-1 Alert to Anticipate Impacts of Global Conflict
Jakarta — The Commander of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), General Agus Subiyanto, issued a telegram ordering a Level 1 alert for all TNI ranks as a precaution against developments in the global situation, with particular emphasis on the conflict in the Middle East. The order is contained in Telegram from the Commander of the TNI No. TR/283/2026, signed by Assistant for Operations of the Commander of the TNI, Lieutenant General Bobby Rinal Makmun, on 1 March 2026. The TNI’s Head of Public Information Center (Kapuspen), Brigadier General Aulia Dwi Nasrullah, confirmed the matter to Kompas.com on Saturday evening. ‘I should state that, in accordance with the TNI Act, one of the TNI’s main duties is to protect the nation and its homeland from threats and disturbances to the unity of the nation and state,’ Aulia told Kompas.com on Saturday.
The Level-1 alert is in effect from 1 March 2026 until an undetermined time. The telegram sets seven main instructions for TNI units. First, the Commander of the Main Operational Commands (Pangkotamaops) is to mobilise personnel and main weaponry systems (alutsista) and to patrol vital strategic objects and economic centres. The patrols should cover airports, seaports and river ports, railway stations, bus terminals, and key facilities such as offices of the state electricity company.
Third, the Strategic Intelligence Agency (BAIS) is to instruct Indonesian defence attaches in conflict-affected countries to data-map and profile Indonesian citizens (WNI) and to prepare evacuation plans if required. This step must be coordinated with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Indonesian diplomatic missions in the relevant countries.
Fourth, Kodam Jaya is to increase patrols at various vital strategic objects and around the embassy district in the Jakarta metropolitan area to maintain security.
Sixth, all central executing agencies of the TNI (Balakpus) are to implement readiness in their respective units.
