The Indonesian Marine Corps (Korps Marinir TNI AL) honed the skills of its soldiers in firing the 105 mm Howitzer cannon at the Cibenda Combat Training Area in Sukabumi, West Java, on Sunday (19/7). In an official press release received in Jakarta on Monday, it was explained that the exercise was carried out by soldiers of the 1st Marine Howitzer Battalion (Yonhow 1 Mar) of the Indonesian Navy. “This exercise aims to improve the capability, accuracy, and combat readiness of artillery soldiers in operating weapons systems professionally,” said the Head of the Marine Corps Information Service, Colonel (Mar) Rana Karyana, when confirmed in Jakarta on Monday. Thus, it can be ensured that both the soldiers and the defence equipment are ready if deployed for specific operations at any time. Through this effort, Rana expressed hope that the Indonesian Navy Marines’ ability to use howitzers will be further sharpened. “The success of this exercise is part of the effort to develop combat capability in order to maintain readiness and support the defence and sovereignty of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI),” Rana stated.
