Indonesian maids tell of abuse

KUALA LUMPUR (AFP): Two more Indonesian maids on Wednesday
told of sexual abuse or near-torture by Malaysian employers --
the latest in a series of incidents which have prompted a shocked
national response.

Immigration authorities in the southern state of Johor
presented the two women at a press conference in the state
capital Johor Baru.

A maid aged 18 from Lampung, southern Sumatra, said she had
been raped five times since she started working for her employer
four months ago. She said she escaped earlier this month while
taking the garbage out one evening.

A 34-year-old maid from West Java said her female employer had
poured hot water over her feet and never paid any wages during
the four years and nine months she worked for her.
