Indonesian Kung Fu films
From Suara Karya
Indonesian film producers are now making more serious efforts
in making Kung Fu serials adapted from books. An example is the
adventure stories of Wiro Sableng (Crazy Warrior) aired by RCTI
on Sundays at 11:00 a.m.. The actors and actresses play their
roles seriously and perform interesting moves.
The scenes are smooth, and the acting techniques no less
interesting than the Chinese originals. The other serial which is
equally interesting is Singgasana Brama Kumbara, starring
distinguished actors and actresses and aired Saturdays on ANteve.
This story is adapted from a radio drama and is flavored with
historical settings. The costumes are designed to reflect the
culture during the Pajajaran Kingdom. Both RCTI and ANteve
deserve recognition for the shows.
They can now reduce the number of Chinese Kung Fu shows by
eliminating the less interesting ones. I admit that many Chinese
action films, like Great Conspiracy, Grand Canal, and Silk Snake
Musketeer, are good.
