Indonesian IT Worker Found Dead in Armenia, Body Bound with Duct Tape

Valenth Tambuto (24), a resident of Maros Regency, South Sulawesi, was found dead in the staff quarters of a company in Yerevan, Armenia. The victim was discovered with his feet, hands, and mouth bound with duct tape. The family first received news of his death on Wednesday night (15/7/2026). His younger brother, Arnold Tambuto, stated that he had still been in communication with the victim just hours before receiving the tragic news. “Yes, it is true that my brother died in Armenia. He worked there in the IT field at an IT consulting firm,” Arnold told reporters. Arnold said the last communication with the victim occurred in the early hours of Wednesday. After that, the victim could no longer be contacted via phone chat applications. The family only learned of the death after receiving information from their uncle, which originated from the victim’s girlfriend in the Philippines. She had become suspicious after being unable to contact Valenth all day. “The girlfriend asked a colleague to check his room. When they checked, they said there was a person covered by a blanket as if sleeping. When they opened it, he was already dead,” Arnold revealed. Based on information received by the family, the victim was found in a horrific state. However, the family is still awaiting official information from Armenian authorities regarding the exact cause of death. “The condition of the body when found was reportedly bound with duct tape. His feet, hands, and mouth were bound with duct tape. I was in shock and hung up the phone, but the information I heard was that when they uncovered him, there was a lot of blood,” Arnold explained. Arnold stated that the family has received information pointing towards a suspected murder. The family is currently coordinating with the Indonesian Embassy to obtain further information regarding the body and the repatriation process to his hometown in Moncongloe District, Maros Regency.
