Indonesian Islamic Da'wah Institute Welcomes New NU Leadership, Ready to Collaborate for the Ummah

The General Chairman of the Central Executive Board of the Indonesian Islamic Da’wah Institute, Dody Taufiq Wijaya, expressed his congratulations to the Executive Board of Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) on the successful conclusion of the 35th Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) Muktamar, held at the Bahrul Ulum Islamic Boarding School, Tambakberas, Jombang, East Java, from 27–31 August 2026.

Dody also congratulated KH Miftachul Akhyar, who has been re-appointed as the Rais Aam of PBNU, and KH Abdul Hakim Mahfudz, also known as Gus Kikin, who was elected as the General Chairman of PBNU for the 2026–2031 term.

“We from the LDII Central Executive Board convey our congratulations on the holding of the 35th Muktamar of Nahdlatul Ulama. Congratulations to KH Miftachul Akhyar for being re-trusted as Rais Aam and to Gus Kikin as the General Chairman of PBNU,” Dody stated in a press release in Jakarta on Wednesday (2/9/2026).

According to Dody, the election of the new PBNU leadership represents a significant momentum for NU to further strengthen its contribution to religious, national, and social life.

He expressed hope that the Indonesian Islamic Da’wah Institute could increase cooperation with the new PBNU administration to address various challenges facing the Ummah within the framework of a civil society.

“We hope that the leadership of the new Rais Aam and General Chairman of PBNU can bring NU further forward, provide widespread benefits for the Ummah, and continue to contribute to maintaining national unity and harmony,” he said.

In an increasingly polarised world, a significant role for the Muslim community is required, particularly in Indonesia, which is a democratic nation with the largest Muslim population in the world. Collaboration between Islamic organisations and the state is expected to provide solutions to the issues facing the global Muslim community.

Dody assessed that cooperation with NU holds a strategic position in building a moderate religious life, while simultaneously strengthening the unity of the Indonesian people, as well as the regional and international communities.

The Indonesian Islamic Da’wah Institute hopes that the leadership of KH Miftachul Akhyar and Gus Kikin can expand the scope of cooperation in strengthening national values.
