Indonesian House of Representatives urges Bulog to add warehouses in southern Cianjur region
We hope that a range of stakeholders can participate in the programme, including the Cianjur Regency government providing land, because Bulog has a collaboration scheme in warehouse construction, he said.
The Indonesian House of Representatives, in a push by Bulog Cianjur Branch Office, West Java, to add warehouses in the southern Cianjur region to reduce distribution costs which are quite high, in cooperation with the regional government.
An MP from Commission XI, Kamrussamad, in Cianjur on Tuesday said that Bulog warehouses are distribution hubs, from drying, packaging to levies to various regions, especially to traders in the southern region.
When warehouses that are within reasonable distance can cut operational distribution costs, the authorities urged and supported Bulog Cianjur to add a warehouse in southern Cianjur.
“We hope that a number of parties can join the programme, including the Cianjur Regency Government providing land because Bulog has a scheme for collaboration in building warehouses,” he said.
“Bulog has collaboration schemes with various parties besides the local government, so we invite a range of groups including entrepreneurs to help realise a Bulog warehouse in the southern Cianjur region,” he said.
Head of Bulog Cianjur Branch Office, Sriwahyuni, said that so far the agency has faced constraints in distributing to several areas, especially the far south, where Bulog Cianjur oversees three areas: Cianjur, Sukabumi Regency, and Sukabumi City.
Currently Bulog Cianjur has one main warehouse unit, and three satellite warehouses spread at strategic points in Cianjur and Sukabumi; the distribution burden has been felt particularly heavy for the southern Cianjur region.
She explained that, from each warehouse, the stock of rice can reach up to 9,300 tonnes, so they view it as ideal to add one warehouse in the southern Cianjur region which is over 100 kilometres from the main warehouse.
“We have received support from members of the Indonesian House of Representatives to add one warehouse in the southern Cianjur region, so various measures will be taken to ensure distribution can be carried out quickly and the wheels of the economy continue to rise,” she said.
