Indonesian House of Representatives Applauds Appointment of Energy and Mineral Resources Minister as Head of Energy Transition Task Force by the President

Cek Endra, a member of Commission XII of the Indonesian House of Representatives from the Golkar Party faction, expressed appreciation for President Prabowo Subianto’s move to appoint the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), Bahlil Lahadalia, as Chair of the Energy Transition Task Force. He stated that the decision demonstrates the government’s commitment to accelerating the national energy transition agenda in a more coordinated manner. Endra assessed that the establishment of the Energy Transition Task Force is an important step in strengthening cross‑sector coordination in implementing the national energy transformation programme, including the development of renewable energy and energy efficiency measures. ‘What is important is that every energy transition programme is implemented realistically and measurably, taking into account infrastructure readiness, support from the domestic industry, and the sustainability of energy supply for the public,’ he said in a press statement received on Friday (6/3). He noted that the energy transition agenda not only concerns the development of clean energy, but also readiness of electricity infrastructure, transformation of the transport sector, and strengthening of the domestic energy industry. Endra hopes that through stronger coordination via the Energy Transition Task Force, various government policies in the energy sector can run more synchronously, thereby strengthening national energy resilience while supporting sustainable development.
