Jambi City (ANTARA) - Cek Endra, a member of the Indonesian House of Representatives’ Commission XII, stated that the implementation of recess activities must provide direct benefits to the public and should no longer be purely ceremonial.

This was conveyed by Cek Endra while attending a recess event held by the Chair of the Jambi City Legislative Council, Kemas Faried Alfarelly, at the Cadika Camping Ground, RT 1, Telanaipura Ward, Jambi City, Jambi, on Wednesday.

According to him, every recess agenda must be oriented towards tangible outcomes that the public can feel, by ensuring that the use of activity and operational budgets delivers concrete impacts, so as not to become mere formal routines without results.

This directive aligns with policies to present more substantive political practices that directly address community needs, so that future political approaches no longer focus on speeches or image-building, but are realised through real actions that provide solutions.

“Every meeting with the public during recess activities must be able to produce programmes or concrete steps whose benefits can be felt, and this pattern is important for building public trust in the legislative institution,” he said.

He hopes that this recess becomes a strategic momentum to affirm a new direction in politics that is more responsive, effective, and oriented towards the real needs of the wider community.

Meanwhile, Kemas Faried Alfarelly, the Chair of the Jambi City Legislative Council, committed to championing and advocating for public aspirations by ensuring that the legislative council not only carries out oversight functions but also pushes for every policy and budget to truly return to the public in the form of tangible benefits.

His side distributed 400 food aid packages as a manifestation of care for the residents of Telanaipura as part of the recess activities.

Furthermore, Jambi Mayor Maulana appreciated the implementation of the recess activities and the support from the Jambi City Legislative Council in driving the realisation of the Happy Jambi City programme, as synergy between the executive and legislative branches is seen as the key to accelerating development in the region.
