Indonesian held for murder

KUALA LUMPUR (AFP): An 18-year-old Indonesian maid has been
charged with slashing her Malaysian employer to death with a
kitchen knife, reports said Saturday.

Herlina Trisnawati was charged Friday in a magistrate court in
a Kuala Lumpur suburb with murdering 31-year-old Soon Lay Chuan
on Aug. 14, The Star newspaper said.

Herlina, from Surabaya, faces the mandatory death sentence if
found guilty. No plea was recorded and the court fixed October 25
for mention of the case.

Local reports said initial investigations showed that the
employer had abused the maid and neighbors said the two
constantly argued.
