Indonesian Handicraft Exhibition Boosts SME Exports to Japan
REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, TOKYO — Following its success in 2025 at Tokyo Dome, Japan, the third Indonesian Handicraft Exhibition will be held again on 5–6 September 2026 at Tokyo Dome. A total of 24 SMEs will participate to showcase their flagship products.
The Chairman of the Indonesian Handicraft Exhibition Organising Committee, Richard Susilo, stated that the exhibition will feature a variety of distinctive Indonesian crafts with high economic value, ranging from traditional fabrics such as batik and ikat, natural material-based products, to artworks from domestic artisans.
“This event is not only a platform for promoting Indonesian culture in Japan but also opens up business opportunities and expands international market access for creative industry players,” Richard said in a statement on Tuesday (14/4/2026).
He added that the low deposit fee aims to broaden SME participation in penetrating the export market. The organisers have set the participant deposit at Rp1 million.
The success of the previous edition demonstrated the high interest from the Japanese market in Indonesian craft products.
“Of course, only high-quality products can participate in this exhibition. It is estimated that around 500,000 visitors will attend over the two days,” he said.
The exhibition is expected to boost sales transactions while strengthening the position of Indonesian craft products in the Japanese market.
