Indonesian Hajj Pilgrims Set Off for Arafah Today
The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah (Kemenhaj) has confirmed that all preparations for the Hajj peak services in Arafah, Muzdalifah, and Mina—collectively known as Armuzna—are being finalised. All Indonesian Hajj pilgrims have now arrived in Mecca and are entering the final preparation phase before moving to Arafah.
Ministry spokesperson Maria Assegaff stated that pilgrims’ movement from hotels to Arafah will commence today, 8 Dhu al-Hijjah, in three staggered departures at 7:00, 11:30, and 16:30 Saudi time.
“Tomorrow [Monday], 8 Dhu al-Hijjah, the Indonesian Hajj pilgrims’ movement from hotels to Arafah will begin in stages. Therefore, we urge all pilgrims to adhere to the schedule, follow officer instructions, avoid moving individually, and stay with their groups,” Maria said in a statement on Sunday (24 May).
Maria said the Arafah Task Force has been deployed to the site since yesterday, Sunday (24 May), to conduct final checks on tents, catering, transport, health services, religious guidance, pilgrim protection, and reception processes at Arafah.
“The Armuzna phase is the most critical and congested stage. Therefore, all services must be fully prepared to ensure pilgrims can perform the Hajj rituals in an orderly, safe, comfortable, and devout manner,” Maria added.
Ahead of departure to Arafah, Kemenhaj reminded pilgrims to maintain physical health, rest adequately, eat regularly, drink sufficient water, and pack only essential items.
“Bring only necessary items such as identity documents, pilgrim cards, ID bracelets, personal medications, masks, water bottles, prayer essentials, sufficient clothing, comfortable footwear, and personal hygiene items. Avoid carrying large suitcases, heavy items, excessive jewellery, or large amounts of cash,” Maria said.
Maria also urged pilgrims and staff to show mutual care, particularly towards elderly, disabled, female, and health-compromised pilgrims.
“If you see a pilgrim walking alone, looking confused, fatigued, or separated from their group, direct them to the nearest officer immediately. Pilgrim safety is a shared responsibility,” she stressed.
Kemenhaj continues to coordinate with Saudi authorities, the Indonesian Hajj Mission in Saudi Arabia (PPIH), cluster officers, sector teams, and all service units to ensure optimal Armuzna operations.
“We request the prayers of all Indonesians for a smooth Hajj peak and for all pilgrims to be granted health, safety, and ease,” Maria said.
