Indonesian Hajj Pilgrims' Sacrificial Meat Distributed to Palestine
Indonesian Hajj Minister Mochamad Irfan Yusuf, known as Gus Irfan, stated that the majority of sacrificial meat from Indonesian pilgrims is being distributed to Palestine. ‘Most of Indonesia’s dam meat is directed to assist Palestinian communities through coordination with Adahi and the Saudi government,’ Gus Irfan said during his speech in Arafah on Tuesday (26 May 2026). According to records, 145,341 pilgrims have paid the dam penalty, with 102,364 of them processing payments via Adahi in Saudi Arabia. As reported by Baznas RI, dam is a penalty or fine required when performing Hajj due to certain violations. Hajj and Umrah pilgrims must avoid prohibitions and adhere to regulations to avoid incurring dam. However, most Indonesian Hajj pilgrims cannot avoid dam as they perform Hajj Tamattu’, which involves completing Umrah first followed by Hajj. Pilgrims must pay dam for violating Hajj prohibitions or failing to fulfill obligatory rituals, such as breaking ihram restrictions or not completing rites like staying overnight in Mina or Muzdalifah. The peak Hajj rituals commenced today, Tuesday (26 May 2026), with the standing at Arafah. This critical phase, known as Armuzna, encompasses Arafah, Muzdalifah, and Mina. Gus Irfan noted that 202,551 regular pilgrims, transported via 527 flight groups, have arrived in Arafah, along with 16,596 special Hajj pilgrims, bringing the total to 219,147.
