Indonesian Hajj Pilgrims Prohibited from Stoning Jamarat During Midday
Saudi Hajj Ministry has banned Indonesian Hajj pilgrims currently in Mina, Saudi Arabia, from stoning the Jamarat pillars between 10am and 2pm Saudi Standard Time (SST) due to extreme heat reaching 43 degrees Celsius.
“All pilgrims must adhere to the regulations prohibiting movement from tents between 10am and 2pm,” said Ian Heryawan, Chair of the Indonesian Hajj Service Committee (PPIH) and Director General of Hajj Services at Indonesia’s Ministry of Religious Affairs, in a video statement received by the Hajj Media Centre on Wednesday, 27 May 2026.
Heryawan stated the ban originates from Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Hajj, aimed at ensuring the safety and comfort of all pilgrims, particularly Indonesians.
“We have instructed all on-ground personnel to implement this directive strictly,” said the retired three-star Indonesian Navy admiral.
Under the directive, Indonesian Hajj pilgrims must remain inside tents and strictly follow approved crowd movement plans, with direct oversight from Hajj missions and service providers to ensure their safety.
