Indonesian Hajj Pilgrims Depart Madinah Ahead of Peak Pilgrimage
The departure of the first wave of Indonesian Hajj pilgrims from Madinah to Mecca officially concluded on Friday, May 15th. Madinah is now confirmed to be clear of regular Hajj pilgrims from Indonesia.
The end of this phase was marked by the departure of the last three groups, namely UPG 21, KJT 20, and BTH 14. A total of 1,278 pilgrims from these three groups departed for Mecca after previously performing the miqat ritual at the Dzulaulaifah Mosque or Bir Ali.
The Head of the Madinah Work Area (Daker), Khalilurrahman, confirmed that the entire process of moving pilgrims on the last day ran smoothly without any significant problems.
“Alhamdulillah, everything went smoothly. There were no major issues in the field. Madinah is gradually becoming clear of the first wave of regular Hajj pilgrims,” said Khalilurrahman while monitoring the procession at Bir Ali on Friday, May 15th.
Although the number of pilgrims served on the last day decreased, the commitment of the officers in the field is said to remain strong. The Head of the Special Sector (Seksus) Bir Ali, Divia Ardianto, affirmed that his personnel remained fully deployed, especially to assist elderly pilgrims.
The Seksus Bir Ali team provided a fleet of golf cars to help mobilize elderly pilgrims who have physical limitations during the ihram ritual.
“We strive to ensure that elderly pilgrims can still see the atmosphere of Bir Ali directly and feel comfortable during the miqat ritual without having to walk too far,” said Divia.
Regarding pilgrims who are currently undergoing medical treatment at Saudi Arabian Hospitals (RSAS) or the Indonesian Hajj Health Clinics (KKHI) in Madinah, Khalilurrahman asked family members in Indonesia not to panic.
He assured that all sick pilgrims remain under the strict supervision of the medical team. If the medical team later gives a recommendation that they are fit to travel, the pilgrims will be immediately evacuated to Mecca with special assistance.
Officers continue to remind pilgrims to maintain their physical condition. This is because the temperature in Madinah has reached 42 degrees Celsius, and the weather in Mecca is predicted to be even hotter during the upcoming peak of the Hajj.
Indonesian Hajj pilgrims are advised to take the following preventive measures:
Do not wait until they are thirsty, drink plenty of water.
Always use an umbrella, mask, and spray water when outdoors.
Get plenty of rest and reduce activities outside of mandatory worship to restore energy.
With the departure of these last three groups, the operational focus of Daker Madinah has now officially shifted to preparing for the arrival of the second wave of pilgrims, who are scheduled to arrive after the peak of the Hajj.
