Indonesian Hajj Pilgrims Banned from Stoning Jamarat Between 10am-2pm, Here's Why

The Indonesian Hajj Service Team (PPIH) in Saudi Arabia has issued a ban on stoning Jamarat between 10:00 and 14:00 Saudi Arabia Time (SAT) to ensure the safety and comfort of Indonesian Hajj pilgrims.

The precautionary measure is in response to scorching weather and high crowd density at the Jamarat area during this period.

“All pilgrims must comply with the regulations, which state that from 10:00 to 14:00 they must remain inside their tents,” said Ian Heryawan, Chairman of the PPIH in Saudi Arabia and Director General of Hajj Services at the Indonesian Ministry of Religious Affairs, in Mecca on Thursday (28 May).

Ian explained that the policy follows instructions from the Saudi Ministry of Hajj, which is concerned about the safety and comfort of all Hajj pilgrims, particularly Indonesians.

The PPIH has instructed all on-ground staff to monitor and enforce the regulation strictly.

Indonesian Hajj pilgrims are required to stay inside their tents and follow the approved crowd movement plan.

“Compliance will be closely monitored and evaluated,” Ian said.

Supervision will be conducted directly by the Hajj Mission and service providers to ensure maximum protection for pilgrims.

On 10 Dhu al-Hijjah yesterday, millions of Hajj pilgrims performed the Stoning of the Jamarat al-Aqabah, followed by stoning during the Days of Tashriq (11-13 Dhu al-Hijjah).

In addition to adhering to the safe hours, the PPIH has urged Indonesian Hajj pilgrims to implement safety strategies while at the Jamarat area.

Pilgrims are advised not to force their way through crowds of other nationalities, maintain stamina to avoid exhaustion, and always follow the movement flow to prevent collisions in the crowd.
