Indonesian Hajj Complex in Saudi Arabia Features 3 Towers, Capable of Accommodating 1,600 People
Presidential Special Advisor on Hajj Affairs Muhadjir Effendy explained that the government, through Danantara’s management, will soon begin constructing three residential towers following the land acquisition for the Indonesian Hajj Complex in the Jabal Hindawiyah area, near the Masjidil Haram in Saudi Arabia. These three towers will eventually accommodate 1,600 people and are planned to be used during the 2027 Hajj season. The Hajj Village location is 2.5 kilometres from the Masjidil Haram, with the 54-hectare land currently being acquired out of the required 84 hectares. Regarding its proximity to the Masjidil Haram, this facilitates easy access for pilgrims. In addition to the towers, the government is building a tunnel so that pilgrims are not disturbed by vehicle traffic. Muhadjir added that the Hajj Complex project does not depend on the state budget; it is fully managed by Danantara through an investment scheme, including investors from Saudi Arabia. Previously, President Prabowo Subianto requested permission from the Saudi Arabian government to provide a special terminal for Indonesian Hajj pilgrims to make the entry and exit process more efficient. “I requested permission from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for Indonesia to have a special Hajj terminal. So, that terminal will be exclusively for our Hajj to allow faster entry and exit,” said Prabowo, quoted from Kompas.com on Wednesday (9/4/2026). This is done to accommodate the large number of Indonesian Hajj pilgrims. “We will build an Indonesian Hajj village, with several dozen towers, that can accommodate (Indonesian Hajj pilgrims),” stated the President. Starting from the 2027 Hajj season, the Indonesian Hajj Village will be operational.
