Indonesian Government Unveils Rp7.8 Trillion Economic Stimulus Package for Second Half of 2026, Incentive List Revealed

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - The Indonesian government has agreed to allocate the Economic Stimulus Package for the Second Half of 2026 as incentives to accelerate public economic growth.

Economic Coordinating Minister Airlangga Hartarto revealed the package focuses on transport ticket discounts for the 2026 Christmas and New Year (Nataru) holidays, a national internship programme, and tax incentives for writers.

Specifically, school holiday transport discounts, including air travel, amount to Rp190 billion benefiting 3.07 million people, while Nataru discounts total Rp161.4 billion for 2.87 million beneficiaries.

‘Discounts on transport and air travel during school holidays and Nataru,’ Airlangga stated at his office in Jakarta on Tuesday (26 May 2026).

Additional stimulus in the form of government-borne value-added tax (VAT) for flight tickets totals Rp472.7 billion targeting 2.3 million passengers during school holidays, and Rp722 billion for 3.7 million passengers during Nataru.

Beyond mobility incentives, the national internship programme for July 2026 targets 150,000 participants with a budget of Rp4.14 trillion. A national vocational programme for 220,000 SMK graduates and 50,000 retrenched workers has a budget of Rp2.12 trillion.

‘These measures are expected to serve as second-quarter stimulus,’ Airlangga stressed.

Finally, tax incentives for writers include a final income tax (PPh) rate of 1.5%. Airlangga did not disclose the budget for this particular incentive.

Thus, the total Economic Stimulus Package for the Second Half of 2026 will absorb Rp7.8 trillion in government funds, excluding the final income tax incentives for writers.
