The Indonesian government, via the Secretariat General of the National Council for Special Economic Zones (SEZ), is strengthening investment promotion to the European region through a series of working visits to Austria, Slovakia, and Hungary from 17–23 May 2026. These activities have resulted in several strategic cooperation explorations and the signing of Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) in the sectors of green energy, digital technology, and water management.

The Indonesian delegation was led by the Acting Secretary General of the National Council for SEZ, Rizal Edwin Manansang, alongside the Acting Head of the Bureau of Investment, Cooperation, and Communication, Bambang Wijanaya. The primary focus of the investment promotion was directed towards the development of the Batang Industropolis SEZ as a new integrated industrial zone in Indonesia.

“Indonesia offers an integrated industrial ecosystem, strategic connectivity to the Indo-Pacific region, and long-term opportunities for sustainable advanced manufacturing partnerships,” stated Secretary General Edwin in a written statement received in Jakarta on Tuesday (2/6/2026).

Austrian representatives expressed interest in cooperation opportunities within the mechanical engineering, advanced manufacturing, renewable energy, automotive components, and precision manufacturing sectors.

Subsequently, in Bratislava, Slovakia, Indonesia organised the Indonesia-Slovakia Investment and Business Forum, attended by approximately 40 participants from the Slovakian government and private sectors. The forum brought together Indonesian and Slovakian business actors in the fields of new and renewable energy, automotive, artificial intelligence, and financial services.

In his address, Secretary General Edwin noted that the forum reflects the strong commitment of both Indonesia and Slovakia to deepen economic cooperation and open new investment opportunities in manufacturing, logistics, infrastructure, technology, and industrial development. He assessed Slovakia as a strategic gateway to Central Europe, while Indonesia offers access to the rapidly growing ASEAN market.

“We believe Slovakia and Indonesia possess great potential to build mutually beneficial partnerships. By combining Slovakia’s industrial strengths with Indonesia’s dynamic economic growth, both nations can build resilient and innovative supply chains,” said Secretary General Edwin.

A key outcome of the forum was the signing of a Letter of Intent (LoI) between Innovation Platform Capital and PT Kawasan Industri Terpadu Batang (KITB), the developer and manager of the Batang Industropolis SEZ, on Tuesday (19/5). This cooperation encompasses the development of clean energy, green hydrogen, AI data centres, digital infrastructure, smart industrial ecosystems, and advanced manufacturing.

These various collaborations serve as an initial step to strengthen the position of the Batang Industropolis SEZ as Indonesia’s future industrial hub.
