Indonesian Government Distributes Majority of Hajj Sacrifice Meat to Palestine
The Government of the Republic of Indonesia, through the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, has realised its humanitarian commitment by distributing the majority of ‘dam’ (hadyu) meat from Indonesian Hajj pilgrims to the people of Palestine. This step follows a direct instruction from President Prabowo Subianto as a tangible expression of Indonesia’s solidarity towards the humanitarian crisis in Palestine.
The handover was performed symbolically by the Deputy Minister of Hajj and Umrah, Dahnil Anzar Simanjuntak, to the Consul General of Palestine in Jeddah, Ihab Al-Qishawi, on Wednesday (3/6). Dahnil emphasised that this distribution is part of the humanitarian diplomacy actively promoted by the Indonesian Government.
“I am symbolically handing over the commitment in accordance with the orders of President Prabowo Subianto, so that the hadyu or dam meat from our pilgrims is distributed to the Palestinian people,” Dahnil stated in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
During this year’s Hajj season, approximately 135,000 goats were recorded from the dam payments of Indonesian pilgrims. The entire slaughtering process was conducted professionally in the Holy Land through a partnership with Adahi, the official institution managing sacrificial animals under the supervision of the Saudi Arabian Government.
Dahnil explained that quality and food security are the primary priorities. The meat is processed and packaged using specialised technology by Adahi to ensure a long shelf life, ensuring the aid remains fit for consumption upon arrival at its destination despite the long journey.
Regarding the logistics route, the aid will be transported via land through Egypt to the Gaza Strip. This route was selected based on Adahi’s successful track record in crossing borders to deliver aid in previous years.
“The Palestinian side has expressed that they never doubt the commitment of the Indonesian Government. Furthermore, President Prabowo continues to conduct various real-world diplomacy to support the Palestinian people,” added Dahnil.
The Consul General of Palestine in Jeddah, Ihab Al-Qishawi, expressed deep gratitude for Indonesia’s consistency. According to him, this aid is not merely logistical support but a symbol of strong brotherhood.
“This humanitarian initiative truly reflects the greatness and depth of the strong historical relationship between our two nations, Indonesia and Palestine. All our gratitude and respect are extended to the leadership, the government, and the entire people of Indonesia,” concluded Ihab.
