Indonesian Foreign Ministry facilitates the arrival of six GSLC volunteers

JAKARTA — The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Kemlu) has facilitated the arrival of six Indonesian volunteers participating in the Global Sumud Land Convoy (GSLC). In a statement confirmed in Jakarta on Friday, the ministry said six of the seven Indonesian GSLC volunteers arrived in Jakarta at 5:35 PM WIB on Friday, while one remains in Istanbul for the next few days. The Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) is a mission to deliver global humanitarian aid to Palestine via sea and land routes. The GSLC volunteers took the Libya-Egypt-Gaza route, accompanied by international volunteers including seven Indonesians. The Indonesian Embassy in Tripoli successfully picked up all seven volunteers on May 25 and 26, 2026, providing accompaniment and housing at the embassy residence while awaiting their return to Indonesia. The volunteers expressed gratitude for Kemlu and embassy support. The Indonesian government reiterated that protecting citizens is a top priority. However, due to high security risks, Indonesians considering volunteering are advised to carefully assess safety or channel aid through accredited humanitarian organisations with established networks in the destination area.
