The Indonesian delegation carried a mission of peace and inter-state solidarity. In addition to meeting the Iranian Foreign Minister, the Indonesian delegation also held a meeting with the Speaker of the Iranian Parliament, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf. That meeting affirmed the commitment of both countries to strengthen parliamentary diplomacy, increase inter-parliamentary exchanges, and enhance people-to-people contact as a crucial foundation for the Indonesia-Iran partnership. The Iranian government had extended an official invitation to the Indonesian government to pay final respects to the late Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei at the Imam Reza Shrine complex in Mashhad. The Indonesian delegation was the first official international delegation to pay respects directly at the tomb.
