JAKARTA — Deputy Trade Minister Dyah Roro Esti Widya Putri said Indonesia signed a memorandum of understanding worth USD 3.5 million on the first day of SIAL Shanghai 2026. SIAL is the world’s largest trade fair for food products and food processing technology, attracting participants from dozens of countries. Roro attended and delivered the keynote speech at the opening of the fair at the Shanghai International Expo Centre (SNIEC) in China on Monday, 18 May 2026. ‘On the first day of the fair, Indonesia successfully recorded a memorandum of understanding valued at USD 3.5 million at the Indonesia Pavilion,’ Roro said in an official statement on Monday. The value of the MoU is expected to continue to grow as the exhibition runs for the next three days. ‘The trade mission can reach a target of USD 30 million,’ Roro said. Through this event, the government hopes market access will widen, trade transactions increase, international business networks strengthen, and Indonesia’s export volume rise. ‘We are optimistic that the cooperation and trade opportunities built through this forum will bring tangible benefits for business players and the Indonesian economy,’ she added. The Golkar party politician said 17 national companies are representing Indonesia at the prestigious fair. According to Roro, some 2,840 Indonesian food entrepreneurs have successfully met China’s strict import rules overseen by the General Administration of Customs of China (GACC). ‘This shows that Indonesian products are increasingly trusted and able to meet international market standards,’ she said.
