Indonesian faces death in Thailand
BANGKOK: An Indonesian man and two Singaporeans face the death sentence in Thailand after being charged over the kingdom's largest seizure yet of the party drug ecstasy, officials said on Friday.
The Office of the Narcotics Control Board said it worked with British and Swiss police to arrest the drug-trafficking gang on Thursday and seize a haul of 62,363 ecstasy tablets.
Alleged Indonesian gang leader Hasan, 41, was arrested on Thursday in the Bangkok red-light district of Nana while receiving a batch of 42,193 ecstasy tablets from 24-year-old Singaporean Tee Chong Lim, they said.
Seo Seng Nam, 43, another Singaporean national, was arrested after he flew into Bangkok's international airport from Germany.
Narcotics officials said they found 20,170 tablets of ecstasy in his briefcase. -- AFP
