Indonesian eying WBC title
JAKARTA (JP): Indonesia's Boy Aruan is gunning to seize the
World Boxing Council super-flyweight crown from title holder
Hiroshi Kawashima in a fight scheduled for Wednesday in Tokyo.
Aruan, the Asia and Pacific champion and Kawashima's contender
number nine, has hired an Australian trainer, Peter Lund, for his
first world championship bout.
"I know Kawashima is a hard-punching fighter, but my new coach
will help me overcome him," Aruan said after a training session
yesterday.
The Indonesian will pocket US$20,000 from Japanese promoter
Monekatsu Kawaragi for the bout scheduled for 12 rounds. (amd)
