JAKARTA (JP): Indonesia's Boy Aruan is gunning to seize the World Boxing Council super-flyweight crown from title holder Hiroshi Kawashima in a fight scheduled for Wednesday in Tokyo.
Aruan, the Asia and Pacific champion and Kawashima's contender number nine, has hired an Australian trainer, Peter Lund, for his first world championship bout.
"I know Kawashima is a hard-punching fighter, but my new coach will help me overcome him," Aruan said after a training session yesterday.
The Indonesian will pocket US$20,000 from Japanese promoter Monekatsu Kawaragi for the bout scheduled for 12 rounds. (amd)
