Indonesian Export Prices Surge: Metal Ores, Gold, Tin, and Copper Lead the Way
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - The Indonesian Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) has recorded an increase in Indonesia’s Export Price Index (EPI) during the first quarter of 2026. This increase in export price inflation reached 13.71%, with the index rising from 107.16 in the first quarter of 2025 to 121.85. This rate of export price inflation is notably higher than the 6.04% recorded during the same period last year.
The rise in export price inflation was most significant within the non-oil and gas group, which saw an increase of 14.25% year-on-year from 6.04% in the first quarter of 2025. Meanwhile, the oil and gas group experienced an inflation rate of 4.08% in the first quarter of 2026, recovering from a deflation rate of 9.92% in the previous year.
“The price developments of various export commodities in the first quarter of 2026 generally experienced an increase,” according to the BPS report released on Wednesday (3/6/2026).
The five commodity groups that experienced the highest export price increases or highest inflation (year-on-year) were:
• EPI for Metal ores, slag, and ash (HS 26): 65.61%
• EPI for Precious metals, jewellery, and gems (HS 71): 63.34%
• EPI for Tin and articles thereof (HS 80): 59.69%
• EPI for Copper and articles thereof (HS 74): 50.45%
• EPI for Vegetable plaiting materials (HS 14): 35.29%
Conversely, five commodity groups experienced a decrease in export prices or deflation (year-on-year):
• EPI for Cocoa and manufactured chocolate (HS 18): -32.51%
• EPI for Inorganic chemicals (HS 28): -16.07%
• EPI for Coffee, tea, and spices (HS 09): -4.37%
• EPI for Dairy products, eggs, and edible animal products (HS 04): -2.19%
• EPI for Man-made staple fibres (HS 55): -0.59%
