Kuala Lumpur (ANTARA) - The Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Kuala Lumpur (KBRI KL) has reported a fake TikTok social media account impersonating KBRI KL to TikTok representatives, requesting its immediate removal. “We have attempted to report the account on the TikTok platform for take-down. We will also report the account to TikTok representatives,” said Coordinator of Information, Social, and Cultural Functions (Pensosbud) at KBRI KL, Fery Iswandi, to ANTARA in Kuala Lumpur on Saturday. Fery stated that announcements and warnings to beware of the fake account have also been posted in the KBRI Kuala Lumpur service areas. Previously reported, the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia (KBRI) in Kuala Lumpur has asked the public to be wary of a fake social media account on TikTok impersonating KBRI KL. The advisory was issued by KBRI KL through an announcement on its official Instagram social media @indonesiainkualalumpur, published in Kuala Lumpur on Friday evening. “Beware of scams impersonating KBRI Kuala Lumpur. A fake TikTok account impersonating KBRI Kuala Lumpur has been circulating, conducting scams and communicating via WhatsApp by requesting personal data from the public,” reads the warning from KBRI KL on the Instagram platform. KBRI KL emphasised that it does not have a TikTok account. KBRI KL also never requests personal data through social media or private WhatsApp.
