Indonesian Embassy in Tehran: Indonesian Citizens in Iran Remain Safe
Jakarta – The Indonesian Embassy (KBRI) in Tehran has reported that Indonesian citizens (WNI) across various regions of Iran continue to be in safe condition.
“At approximately 2.30 local time, all contact points with Indonesian citizens we reached across various Iranian cities reported that they were not experiencing or feeling any direct threat,” said Indonesian Ambassador to Iran Rolliansyah Soemirat via voice message in Jakarta on Saturday.
According to Rolliansyah Soemirat, at least 329 Indonesian citizens have officially registered with the embassy. He emphasised that the current focus of KBRI Tehran is to maintain continuous communication with all Indonesian nationals in Iran.
“This communication is very important so we can make the most accurate assessment to provide the necessary assistance and protection for Indonesian citizens,” said Roy, adding that security assessments in Iran will be conducted by KBRI Tehran in coordination with the Indonesian Foreign Ministry.
The embassy has reiterated its appeal to all Indonesian citizens in Iran to take necessary steps to ensure the security of themselves and their families.
On Saturday (28 February), Israel and the United States launched a joint military strike against Iran. This marks the second US strike under President Donald Trump, following a previous operation in June 2025.
Trump stated that US forces launched large-scale military operations against Iran to protect its population and eliminate threats related to Iran’s alleged nuclear weapons development.
On the same day, Indonesia called on all parties to exercise restraint and prioritise dialogue and diplomacy. Indonesia also declared its readiness to facilitate dialogue to restore a conducive security environment, according to a statement from the Indonesian Foreign Ministry.
“If approved by both parties, the President of Indonesia is prepared to travel to Tehran to conduct mediation,” according to the statement.
