Kuala Lumpur — Indonesia’s Embassy in Kuala Lumpur is promoting the strengthening of Indonesian fashion brands in Malaysia through the organisation of a business networking event titled Experience Nusantara Couture, held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on Tuesday.

The event was designed to strengthen the presence of Indonesian fashion brands in Malaysia and encourage collaboration with media, buyers, distributors, retailers, and various other industry stakeholders.

“This evening, as we bring together designers, buyers, retailers, media, and friends of the fashion industry, we want to strengthen relationships, drive growth of Indonesian brands, and encourage collaboration across the entire creative economy ecosystem,” said Indonesian Ambassador to Malaysia Dato’ Mohammad Iman Hascarya during his remarks in Kuala Lumpur on Tuesday, 10 March.

Ambassador Iman emphasised that Indonesia’s creative economy continues to develop rapidly, with the fashion sector being one of the most dynamic sectors.

The event was attended by approximately 100 invited guests, including members of the diplomatic community, retail associations, media representatives, and high-end fashion customers.

The Economic Function of the Indonesian Embassy stated that COLLABSTORE, established in 2019, is known for curating unique and limited edition designs and has become an important platform for introducing various distinctive fashion labels, including those from Indonesia.

The event featured a curated fashion show presenting Indonesian brands currently available at COLLABSTORE, followed by an iftar (breaking of the fast) event that provided an opportunity for industry stakeholders to network in a relaxed yet productive manner.

The high level of attendance and positive responses from Malaysian buyers and fashion professionals reflected growing acceptance and appreciation of Indonesian fashion in the Malaysian market.

The Indonesian Embassy stated that Indonesian fashion brands are increasingly recognised and sought after by Malaysian consumers and retailers, because of their distinctive design, craftsmanship, and contemporary appeal.

The event also featured Wardah, a leading halal beauty brand from Indonesia, highlighting the broader potential of Indonesia’s creative industries whilst strengthening Indonesia’s reputation as a producer of innovative halal lifestyle products.

The event also presented Indonesian cuisine selections prepared by Restaurant Anggrek Kuring, including Madura satay, combro, sweet potato compote, spiced layer cake, and yellow rice, which added a distinctive culinary element to the networking programme that evening.

Through this initiative, the Indonesian Embassy in Kuala Lumpur aims to increase the visibility and competitiveness of Indonesian fashion as an important part of the national creative economy, whilst supporting the sustainable expansion of Indonesian brands in Malaysia.

Through initiatives such as Experience Nusantara Couture, the Indonesian Embassy in Kuala Lumpur continues to promote Indonesia’s creative industries and encourage closer commercial collaboration between Indonesian brands and industry actors in Malaysia.
