Indonesian Embassy in Bern supports Kadin-Suissenegoce partnership to train trade human resources
The Indonesian Embassy in Bern supports educational and training cooperation in global commodity trading between the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) and the Swiss commodity trading association, Suissenegoce.
The support was given as a form of the Indonesian Embassy in Bern’s commitment to strengthening national human resources capacity, while also commemorating 75 years of Indonesia-Switzerland bilateral relations.
This strategic step is also a concrete follow-up to the visit of Swiss Federal Councillor for Economic Affairs, Education and Research Guy Parmelin to Jakarta in October 2025, as well as the signing of mineral and metal processing cooperation by Minister of Investment and Downstreaming Rosan Roeslani in June 2026.
The signing of the cooperation was carried out by Chairman of Kadin Indonesia Anindya Bakrie and Secretary General of Suissenegoce Florence Schurch in Geneva on Thursday (20/8), witnessed by Indonesian Ambassador to Switzerland Ngurah Swajaya and Chairman of the Kadin Indonesia-Switzerland Bilateral Committee Francis Wanandi.
“The Indonesian Embassy in Bern has long been exploring efforts for a Suissenegoce partnership with Kadin Indonesia. The signing of this cooperation is an initial and concrete step that begins in conjunction with the celebration of 75 years of Indonesia-Switzerland bilateral relations,” said Ambassador Ngurah in a written statement from the Indonesian Embassy in Bern on Friday.
Through this partnership, both parties will organise Suissenegoce-certified training and education on global commodities trading.
The five-week programme is planned to be held regularly in Jakarta, involving private business players and state-owned enterprises to optimise state revenue from leading export commodities.
Chairman of Kadin Indonesia Anindya Bakrie emphasised the importance of this knowledge transfer so that Indonesia can enhance its strategic role in the international market.
“Human resources development in global commodity trading is a concrete step so that Indonesia is not only a producing country, but can also become an influential player in the world commodity trading market,” said Anindya.
Suissenegoce itself oversees around 215 global companies operating in three main sectors: agriculture, minerals and metals, and energy.
As one of the largest global commodity trading hubs since the 1950s, Switzerland controls one third of the world market share through the support of a solid banking and taxation system.
Through this collaboration, Kadin Indonesia hopes to encourage its member companies to actively build supporting ecosystems and advance national commodity trading on the global stage.
