Series of explosions rocked several Arab Gulf nations hosting US military bases on Saturday (28 February) local time, following US and Israeli military strikes against Iran. These included Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, and Kuwait, all reporting a series of explosions.

The Bahrain News Agency, as reported by CNN and The Guardian on Saturday (28 February 2026), reported that the headquarters of the US Navy’s Fifth Fleet in Bahrain had “become the target of a missile attack”.

Iran’s news agency, Fars, separately stated that a missile attack had been launched against a US base in Bahrain.

Bahrain is a key US ally in the Persian Gulf region and serves as the permanent home of the headquarters of the US Navy’s Fifth Fleet in the capital, Manama.
