Indonesian Embassy in Amman: No Evacuation Plan Yet for Stranded Tourists in Jordan
Indonesian Embassy in Amman has said there is currently no evacuation plan for Indonesian citizens who are tourists stranded in Jordan. This was conveyed in response to requests from tourists stranded in Amman on Tuesday, 3 March 2026, amid escalating conflict in the Middle East following Israel’s attack on Iran. Nevertheless, the Embassy is also seeking information on the health status of the group and will facilitate medicines if needed, according to a statement from the Indonesian Embassy in Amman distributed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Thursday, 5 March 2026.
In communications, the tourist group said they were travelling home from Petra to Amman and would return to Indonesia with Etihad Airways on 4 March 2026. On Tuesday, 3 March 2026, the group contacted the Embassy again and said their Emirates flight had been cancelled. They reported difficulty obtaining the suggested alternative flight options. ‘They also asked for information on charter planes available in Jordan and urged the government to evacuate them,’ the Embassy said.
So far, records show that 27 Indonesian religious pilgrims from different groups have left Jordan on alternative flights via Cairo. Today, the Embassy will follow up on the request for medicines from the group of tourists. ‘The Embassy is still seeking information on charter aircraft as requested by them. As per last night’s communication, the Embassy is preparing Indonesia’s cuisine menu and will send it to them this afternoon,’ it added.
Earlier reports stated that the group of Indonesian citizens stranded in Amman due to flight delays posted a video on social media.
