Indonesian Embassy in Abu Dhabi Implements Alert Level III, Indonesian Citizens in UAE Urged to Limit Activities
JAKARTA – The Indonesian Embassy (KBRI) in Abu Dhabi and the Indonesian Consulate General (KJRI) in Dubai have implemented Alert Level III, the lowest level of alert, as of Saturday 28 February 2026, following heightened security conditions in the Middle East.
The Alert Level III status was established based on several indicators, including that conditions in the accredited region remain normal despite ongoing conflicts in other areas that have not yet had direct impact on the UAE.
The status was set following military escalation between the United States, Israel, and Iran. Iran reportedly launched missiles towards Israeli territory and Gulf states, including the United Arab Emirates. The UAE Defence Ministry stated it had intercepted the missiles and condemned the attack.
UAE authorities also sent warning notifications to residents’ mobile phones in affected areas, urging them to seek safe locations, avoid doors and windows, stay away from open areas, and await further instructions.
By early morning on Saturday, explosions and fighter jet activity were heard over Abu Dhabi. The regional security situation has also impacted aviation, with airspace restrictions and closures implemented in several countries for safety reasons. Major airports including Dubai International Airport and Hamad International Airport in Doha have halted operations, rerouted flights, or cancelled services. Etihad Airways suspended all departures from Zayed International Airport until 14:00 local time on Sunday.
To provide direct clarification to Indonesian residents, KBRI Abu Dhabi held an online meeting with the Indonesian community in the UAE on Saturday evening to outline the current security situation. The Embassy urged Indonesian nationals to increase vigilance, limit outdoor activities, and avoid locations at potential risk. Indonesian nationals were also advised to remain calm and monitor information through official and reliable sources.
KBRI Abu Dhabi and KJRI Dubai have established a dedicated hotline to respond to emergencies.
