Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Embassy in Riyadh continues to monitor the condition of the Indonesian population throughout Saudi Arabia through task forces and community networks amidst escalating conflict in the Middle East region.

“Currently, the Indonesian Embassy continues to monitor the condition of the Indonesian population scattered across Saudi Arabia through task forces and existing community networks. Their reports serve as our reference for assessing the current condition of Indonesian nationals,” said Mahendra, Acting Head of Social and Cultural Affairs at the Indonesian Embassy in Riyadh, when contacted by ANTARA from Jakarta on Monday.

He conveyed that generally the condition of Indonesian nationals is monitored as safe. However, vigilance still needs to be increased, particularly in areas that are locations of United States military installations, such as in Riyadh and Dammam.

“Indonesian nationals continue their activities as usual. Indonesian migrant workers and students interact with the local community and follow further guidance and instructions from the local government regarding this situation,” he said.

Mahendra added that Indonesian nationals have also been asked to conduct data registration and maintain communication with their respective community networks through WhatsApp groups throughout Saudi Arabia.

“The Embassy is also participating in these groups,” he said.

Previously, the Indonesian Embassy in Riyadh appealed to all Indonesian nationals in Saudi Arabia to remain calm, not panic, and increase vigilance regarding developments around their respective places of residence.

Indonesian nationals have also been urged to report themselves to the Indonesian Embassy in Riyadh through the website https://peduliwni.kemlu.go.id/beranda.html.

In case of emergency, Indonesian nationals can contact the hotline of the Indonesian Embassy in Riyadh via WhatsApp at the number +966 569173990.

The Indonesian Embassy in Riyadh stated it would continue to carefully monitor developments in the situation and coordinate with relevant authorities.
