Indonesian Embassy appreciates Cambodian authorities' support in handling online scams
The Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia (KBRI) in Phnom Penh has presented awards to a number of Friends of Indonesia in Cambodia, including the local immigration authorities, for their support in protecting Indonesian citizens (WNI) from online scams.
According to an official statement received in Jakarta on Tuesday, the awards were presented to the Chairman of the Secretariat of the Cambodian Commission for the Eradication of Online Scams (CCOS), Chhay Sinarith, and representatives of the Cambodian immigration authorities during the ceremony marking the 81st Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, on Monday (17/8).
KBRI Phnom Penh also expressed appreciation to the ground handling team of AirAsia at Techo International Airport for their support in the repatriation process of Indonesian scam victims, as well as to several local media outlets that contributed to disseminating information and strengthening Indonesia’s positive image.
Meanwhile, the annual award for Indonesian citizens was presented to the President of the Indonesia–Cambodia Chamber of Commerce, Dalton Wong, for his contribution to strengthening economic and business relations between the two countries and supporting KBRI Phnom Penh’s economic diplomacy mission.
Chargé d’Affaires ad interim (KUAI) of KBRI Phnom Penh, Krishnajie Partadireja, said that the awards affirm that Indonesia’s diplomatic efforts in Cambodia are reinforced by collaboration with various stakeholders, including government authorities, the business community, the media, and the public.
In his remarks at the 81st Independence Day commemoration ceremony, he also invited all Indonesian citizens to use the celebration as a momentum to strengthen unity and make positive contributions while in Cambodia.
“The progress Indonesia is experiencing today is the result of the struggle and sacrifice of our predecessors. It is our duty to continue that struggle to realise a sovereign, just and prosperous Indonesia,” he said.
“In the spirit of that struggle, KBRI Phnom Penh plays an active role in supporting the nation’s goals through strengthening cooperation with Cambodia,” Krishnajie added.
