TEMPO Interactive, Batam: Manpower and Transmigration Minister Erman Soeparno has stated that 11 million Indonesians are unemployed and that 70 percent of these are considered incompetent.
“This is because for many of them there was no link and match with their educational background,” said Erman after officially opening a training center for mining workers owned by J. Ray McDermott in Batam, Riau Archipelago, yesterday (7/10).
Erman suggested that students be trained in specific skills that would be useful for particular industries.
He said that the government supports training centers like J.Ray McDermontt's.
