Amman (ANTARA) - A number of Indonesian diaspora and students welcomed President Prabowo Subianto’s arrival in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, on Wednesday, after the President arrived at the Presidential Flight Airport at 6:00 PM local time.

Among the diaspora and students who welcomed President Prabowo in Abu Dhabi were several cadets from the University of Defence (Unhan) who are currently participating in an exchange program at Rabdan Academy.

In the lobby of the hotel where President Prabowo is staying, the diaspora and Indonesian students gathered to greet and shake hands with the President. The President shook hands with several diaspora members and students one by one, and then took the time to have a brief conversation with them.

During the same welcoming event, President Prabowo also received a bouquet of flowers from two Indonesian children wearing traditional clothes who were standing at the entrance of the hotel.

Naufal Ahmad Sofyan, an undergraduate student at the University of Humanities, who is also the Deputy Chairman of the Indonesian Student Association (PPI) in the United Arab Emirates, said he was very impressed to be able to meet President Prabowo in person.

“The deep impression of welcoming Mr. Prabowo is that I am very happy and pleased. We were fortunate enough to shake his hand, and it was very impressive for us, especially for Mr. President Prabowo, the greatest President,” said Naufal, as quoted from the official statement of the Presidential Secretariat, which was confirmed on Wednesday evening.

Naufal also hopes that President Prabowo’s visit to Abu Dhabi will strengthen bilateral relations between Indonesia and the United Arab Emirates. He said that as a student, he has directly felt the positive impact of the close relationship between the two countries, especially in the field of education.

“Hopefully, with the presence of Mr. President, every year, it can even strengthen the relationship, the bilateral relationship, the relationship between the two countries, which has an impact on economic and educational aspects, and one of them is us, who are also part of the impact of the good relationship between the President and the United Arab Emirates,” said Naufal.

At the same location, two cadets from the University of Defence, namely Sergeant Major Two Cadet Mathematics Alief Syahnur Almaida, who is currently majoring in homeland security at Rabdan Academy, and Sergeant Major Two Cadet Mechanical Engineering Carina Alexandrea Silaban, said that their meeting with President Prabowo was a very valuable first experience.

“This is my first experience, especially shaking hands directly with Mr. President. Of course, this is a unique experience that will definitely be memorable for me,” said Alief.
