Indonesian diaspora welcome President Prabowo in Paris

Hundreds of Indonesian diaspora welcomed President Prabowo Subianto in Paris, France, on Tuesday, expressing enthusiasm and pride among overseas citizens for the head of state’s visit.

“I am very grateful to him; President Prabowo took the time to meet Indonesian citizens here. Even just a handshake moved me deeply. I feel honoured to have met him,” said Ruth, a Blitar native who has lived in France for 23 years.

Ruth admitted she could not hide her emotions upon meeting President Prabowo for the first time at the hotel where the head of state was staying during his Paris visit.

“Bienvenue, Bapak Presiden Prabowo Subianto,” Ruth said, greeting the President in French.

Indonesian students studying in France also showed similar enthusiasm.

“I feel very proud and happy to meet the President in person. As students in France, this is an opportunity not everyone gets, so we are very pleased,” said Reval.

During the meeting, President Prabowo had a brief conversation with the students, inquiring about their fields of study and academic levels while encouraging them to study diligently.

“Thank you, President, for taking the time to discuss with us, even though we are just students. This is not an approach we get every day, so we feel honoured and happy to speak with the President,” said Evelyn.

“Thank you, President, for maintaining a strong relationship with France. As students, we feel the benefits here, and hopefully in the future we can spread Indonesian culture worldwide,” said Syeril.

The meeting between President Prabowo and the Indonesian diaspora in Paris strengthened emotional ties with the homeland and reaffirmed that overseas Indonesians remain an inseparable part of the nation.
