Indonesian Delegation Departs for Belgium to Lobby for Breaking Gaza Blockade
TANGERANG – Carrying a major mission to break the humanitarian blockade in Gaza, the Global Peace Convoy Indonesia (GPCI) has officially dispatched a cross-sector delegation to Brussels, Belgium, on Sunday (19/4/2026). Comprising legal experts to religious figures, the team is on a diplomatic mission to press the international community to halt the atrocities of Zionist Israel and open access for aid to Palestine.
A GPCI delegation representative from Dompet Dhuafa, Arif Rahmadi Haryono, stated that Indonesia’s participation in the forum represents a tangible contribution from civil society in promoting peaceful solutions to various global conflicts that impact humanitarian crises.
Through an approach of dialogue and cross-country collaboration, the delegation is expected to convey Indonesia’s perspective that upholds values of justice, humanity, and peace. During their stay in Brussels, the delegation will engage in various strategic agendas, including panel discussions, meetings with international stakeholders, and policy advocacy forums focused on efforts to resolve conflicts in a peaceful and sustainable manner.
“Insha Allah, this afternoon six delegates from the Global Peace Convoy Indonesia will depart for Brussels to attend the global congress, with the aim of pressuring or sending a message to the entire world regarding the humanitarian blockade carried out by Zionists against Gaza and Palestine,” said Arif to Republika on Sunday (19/4/2026).
He added that the departure of the Global Peace Convoy Indonesia delegation becomes an important momentum for Indonesia to strengthen its positioning on the struggle of the Palestinian people.
The delegation consists of national figures with strong track records in social, religious, and political fields. Among them are Wanda Hamidah (human rights activist and pro-Palestine advocate), Professor Sudarnoto Abdul Hakim (Chairman of MUI’s Foreign Relations and International Cooperation Division), Arif Rahmadi Haryono (General Manager of Advocacy at Dompet Dhuafa), Professor Heru Susetyo (Professor at the Faculty of Law, UI), Feri Amsari (Constitutional Law Expert), and Gustika Jusuf Hatta (researcher and human rights activist).
Representing MUI and the Headquarters of the Asia Pacific Coalition for Al-Quds and Palestine (APCAP), Professor Sudarnoto Abdul Hakim, who is part of GPCI, conveyed that the presence of this delegation is not only carrying the name of the organisation but also the aspirations of the Indonesian people who desire a more peaceful and just world.
“This is part of a collective effort to ensure that the voice of humanity remains present and advocated at the global level. There, we also promote and prioritise the mission to open the gates for humanitarian aid to enter conflict areas,” said Sudarnoto.
A GPCI delegation representative who is also a Constitutional Law Expert, Feri Amsari, emphasised that through this participation, Indonesia reaffirms its role as a nation actively promoting world peace, in line with the constitutional mandate to participate in implementing a world order based on independence, eternal peace, and social justice.
“So, this diplomacy ensures pressure on the Israeli government and its allies, such as the United States, to open space for humanitarian aid. So, humanitarian aid should not be targeted, because that is already unlawful under humanitarian law. This political pressure is important as the main pillar for various humanitarian steps,” said Feri.
Dompet Dhuafa hopes that in the future, the GPCI initiative can strengthen global collaboration networks and open broader spaces for dialogue in seeking inclusive and sustainable peaceful solutions.
