The Indonesian Defence Ministry (Kemhan) has launched a social initiative titled “Ramadan Blessing” by distributing thousands of food packages and breaking-of-fast meals to communities. The programme, targeting the Jakarta, Tangerang, and Bogor regions, is being carried out regularly every Tuesday and Friday throughout the sacred month of Ramadan in the Islamic calendar year 1447 Hijriah.

The programme represents a direct implementation of an instruction from Indonesia’s Defence Minister, Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, as a concrete demonstration of the defence institution’s commitment to public welfare during the religious month.

The Head of the General Bureau of Kemhan, Air Force Marshal Toni Setiawan, explained that at each distribution point, approximately 1,000 to 1,500 food packages and breaking-of-fast meals are being provided.

“The Defence Minister has instructed us to carry out food package and breaking-of-fast meal distribution during Ramadan. This demonstrates Kemhan’s commitment to the community,” Toni stated on Tuesday, 10 March 2026.

In total, Kemhan has scheduled eight distribution events throughout Ramadan this year. The twice-weekly schedule is expected to reach more residents in need, allowing them to carry out their fasting obligations with greater peace and reverence.

Toni added that the initiative goes beyond material assistance, carrying a mission to strengthen national unity and integration through a social approach.

“We hope this activity can increase gratitude and faith, whilst strengthening solidarity within the community,” he said.

Observing public enthusiasm, Kemhan plans to continue this spirit of sharing beyond Ramadan. The ministry is preparing a “Friday Blessing” programme format that will be implemented continuously throughout the year.
