Indonesian Crypto Investors Reach 22.4 Million, Transactions Hit Rp23 Trillion in May 2026

The number of cryptocurrency investors in Indonesia reached 22.4 million as of May 2026, marking a month-to-date increase of 3.17 percent. According to data from the Financial Services Authority (OJK), the value of crypto transactions in May was recorded at Rp23.01 trillion, while transactions in digital financial assets (AKD) derivatives reached Rp5.69 trillion. Amidst market fluctuations, the transaction value and consumer confidence in digital financial assets, including crypto, remain well maintained as part of the development of the IAKD ecosystem under OJK supervision, said Adi Budiarso, Chief Executive of the IAKD Supervisory Body. In April 2026, Indonesia’s crypto transaction value reached Rp22.98 trillion, bringing the year-to-date total to Rp99 trillion. This performance coincided with a 1.71 percent month-to-date increase in consumer accounts, which rose to 21.1 million. To strengthen the digital financial asset sector, OJK has conducted digital financial literacy programmes at Pattimura University and Sebelas Maret University in Solo. The OJK, together with blockchain associations, also held a crypto month event aimed at bolstering the industry for the public and encouraging the utilisation of digital assets and crypto.
