Indonesian Council of Mosques Receives Quran Endowment to Strengthen Faith Literacy
Sinar Mas, through the Sinar Mas Muslim Foundation, has endowed 2,000 copies of the Qur’an to the Indonesian Council of Mosques (DMI). The endowment is part of an effort to strengthen solidarity and concern for fellow believers and to enhance religious literacy among the faithful.
“Our joint steps to improve the quality of life of the community economically, socially and environmentally are inseparable from what is written in the Qur’an. Therefore we hope this endowment can help us increase the religious literacy of the community,” said Saleh Husin, Chairman of YMSM, after the symbolic handover to the Chairman of the Indonesian Council of Mosques (DMI), Muhammad Jusuf Kalla, according to a statement received on Saturday (7 March 2026).
Attending the event were the Deputy Chairman of the YMSM Board of Patrons, Feri Wibisono; the Deputy Chairman of YMSM’s Board of Supervisors, Gatot Eddy; YMSM Board of Patrons member Mayerfas; and YMSM Board of Supervisors member Widyo Pramono. The Qur’an copies will be distributed by DMI to various places of worship in need.
This event, said Feri Wibisono, also serves as an occasion for fostering ties during the Ramadan month. He noted that the foundation has the opportunity to broaden horizons regarding the development of the faith of Sinar Mas’s workforce through empowering places of worship within the working environment.
YMSM within the Sinar Mas group acts as a forum for open, tolerant, egalitarian and caring Islamic practice, while outside the foundation it cooperates with individuals or institutions with similar intentions.
Since 2008, with the support of APP Group, about 1.4 million Qur’an copies have been donated, through Sinar Mas’s business pillars across various regions, reaching religious institutions, educational entities, communities, and even TNI-Polri units in various areas, including frontier areas of the Nusantara.
