Indonesian Content Creators Admire Technology and Culture of Guangdong's Greater Bay Area
Guangzhou (ANTARA) - Five content creators from Indonesia visited Guangdong Province in southern China from 7 to 11 April, witnessing firsthand the rapid technological advancements and cultural charm in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) through their visits to Guangzhou, Dongguan, and Shenzhen.
In this area, traditional culture blends harmoniously with modern urban life. The content creators donned hanfu, traditional Chinese attire, at the Guangzhou Cultural Centre, attracting the attention of many locals and tourists who eagerly posed for photos with them.
“I often hear in Indonesia that young people in China really love hanfu. Today, I got to try it myself. I’m very happy. Chinese traditional clothing is so beautiful; I took lots of photos today,” said Diana Paramitha.
At MINISO LAND on Beijing Road in Yuexiu District, Guangzhou, Siti Nadia bought a plush toy “Lychee Dundun Chicken”. According to her, the lychee fruit from Lingnan has a long history and is very famous, making it a highly meaningful souvenir.
“This doll also has a gentle lychee scent, truly reflecting Guangzhou’s characteristics,” said Nadia with a smile.
“In Indonesia, I love visiting MINISO; I go almost every month,” she added.
Technological innovation is another hallmark of the area. At the Haixinsha Smart Experience Centre in Guangzhou, various cutting-edge technologies such as low-altitude economy and intelligent robots were showcased. The content creators tried out a flying car cockpit and controlled a football robot. They said the experience felt like stepping into a futuristic world.
In Dongguan, they visited the headquarters of OPPO Guangdong Mobile Communications Co., Ltd. In 2015, OPPO established its first overseas manufacturing centre in Indonesia. Currently, OPPO has long held a leading position in Indonesia’s smartphone market and is one of the popular brands in the country.
Achmad Candra Lukito said he already owns four OPPO phones, and his family and friends use them too. “In Indonesia, many people use OPPO phones. I didn’t expect the products to be made in Guangdong.”
Shenzhen is China’s special economic zone and a national innovation city, and it will host the 33rd APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting this year.
At the UBTECH exhibition hall, the portable intelligent robot “Wukong” could interact and dance, impressing visitors. At the world’s first humanoid robot-themed shop in Futian District, Shenzhen, robots from Zhongqing Robotics demonstrated martial arts moves like punches and kicks, drawing admiration from onlookers.
In Huaqiangbei, known as “China’s first electronics street”, a robot dog carrying packages navigated through the crowd, while foreign customers busily selected electronic products. At Bijiashan Sports Park, a delivery drone landed slowly to drop off an ordered coffee.
“I knew Shenzhen’s future industry development is very fast, but the robots I saw this time really exceeded my imagination,” said Siti Nadia.
The area’s lush green environment also impressed the content creators.
“In China, new energy vehicles from brands like BYD are everywhere and produce no pollution at all,” said photographer Barry Kusuma.
At the Futian Mangrove Ecological Park in Shenzhen, the serene natural scenery captivated Diana Paramitha.
“Indonesia is an archipelagic country with lots of natural landscapes, but it’s rare to find a park in a big city centre that combines ecological functions and public space like this. APEC guests can stroll in Shenzhen’s park and witness firsthand the harmonious integration of technology and nature in this city,” she said.
In November, China will host the 33rd APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province. This will be the third time China has hosted the event.
“I will share my wonderful experiences in Guangdong with my followers and hope more friends from around the world can visit Guangdong during APEC,” said Indonesian actor Ajil Ditto.
