Indonesian Coffee Exports to China and Morocco via SRG Scheme
The first export of coffee through the Warehouse Receipt System (SRG) scheme has successfully penetrated the markets of China and Morocco, with a total volume of 38.4 tonnes valued at US$227,443. The export release was conducted by the Head of the Commodity Futures Trading Regulatory Agency (Bappebti) together with PT Kliring Berjangka Indonesia (KBI) as the SRG Registration Centre. The shipment consisted of one container of Robusta Grade 2 coffee weighing 19.2 tonnes worth US$71,040 destined for Morocco, and one container of Arabica Semi Wash coffee weighing 19.2 tonnes valued at US$156,403.20 destined for China. Exports through the SRG scheme are expected to continue, with the warehouse manager having scheduled the delivery of eight containers of Arabica Semi Wash coffee to China, totalling 153.6 tonnes with a value reaching US$1.25 million. PT KBI President Director Budi Susanto stated that this inaugural export demonstrates the SRG is not only utilised as a financing instrument but is also beginning to play a role in strengthening the supply chain and opening export market access for Indonesian commodities. βThe SRG is not just a financing instrument for farmers and business actors, but also serves as a bridge connecting national commodities with international markets,β Budi said. He noted that the success of this export shows that commodities stored through the SRG scheme can maintain their quality during storage, thereby meeting international trade standards and possessing competitiveness in the global market. PT KBI stated it will continue to strengthen governance and digitalisation of SRG registration services to increase trust among business actors, financial institutions, and the international market. The strengthening of the SRG ecosystem is also expected to expand export opportunities and financing access for farmers, cooperatives, MSMEs, and national business actors.
