Indonesian Climbing Team to Arrive Three Days Before Asian Games

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Chef de Mission (CdM) of Indonesia’s contingent for the 2026 Asian Games, Todotua Pasaribu, said the climbing team will arrive about three days before the Games, which take place from 19 September to 4 October.

“The PP FPTI has conveyed that both athletes and officials requested to arrive around three days before the Asian Games so they can better refine their preparations at the venue. We approved it immediately,” said Todotua during a visit to the national training centre (pelatnas) of the Indonesian climbing team in Bekasi, West Java, on Monday.

He explained that the proposal was approved and would be coordinated in the departure preparations.

According to Todotua, the moment of adapting to the venue, the competition environment, and local conditions before competing is an important factor for athletes to perform at their best.

He said that visiting training venues in person is important in order to identify the needs of athletes and officials that the CdM team can assist with.

He said the CdM team’s tasks cover organising the contingent’s departure, accommodation, transport, and other supporting needs while in Japan. The team also gathers input from each sport regarding special requirements to improve athletes’ readiness for the competition.

According to him, setting medal targets is not a CdM’s job. However, through intense communication and absorbing athletes’ aspirations, he is aware of the medal prospects from each sport.

“Earlier we heard that the climbing team is confident it can contribute at least two gold medals from the nine athletes competing,” said the man who also serves as Deputy Minister of Investment and Downstream Industries.

Todotua stated that each sport has different needs, so not all teams will arrive early at the venue.

The PP FPTI is sending nine athletes, comprising five men and four women, to compete in Asia’s biggest multi-sport event.

Men’s speed discipline: Veddriq Leonardo and Aditya Tri Syahria.

Women’s speed discipline: Desak Made Rita Kusuma Dewi and Berthdigna Devi.

Men’s lead discipline: Putra Tri Ramadani (Srondeng), Raviandi Ramadhan.

Women’s lead discipline: Sukma Lintang Cahyani, Alma Ariella Tsany.

Men’s boulder discipline: Ravianto Ramadhan and Raviandi Ramadhan.
