Indonesian Climbing Team to Arrive Three Days Before Asian Games

Chef de Mission (CdM) of the Indonesian Contingent for the 2026 Asian Games, Todotua Pasaribu, has stated that the sport climbing team will arrive three days before the Asian Games, which run from 19 September to 4 October. “The FPTI has conveyed that both athletes and officials have requested to be present around three days before the Asian Games to better finalise preparations at the venue. We immediately approved it,” said Todotua during a visit to the Indonesian sport climbing team’s national training camp in Bekasi City, West Java, on Monday. He explained that the proposal was approved and will be coordinated in the departure preparations. Todotua assessed that the moment of adapting to the venue, the competition environment, and local conditions before competing is an important factor for athletes to perform optimally. According to him, the activity of directly visiting the training site is important and aims to identify the needs of athletes and officials to be assisted by the CdM Team. He said the CdM team’s duties include organising the contingent’s departure, accommodation, transportation, and other support needs while in Japan. The team also gathers input from each sport regarding specific needs to improve athletes’ readiness for the competition. According to him, setting medal targets is not the duty of a CdM. However, through intensive communication and absorbing athletes’ aspirations, he is aware of the medal opportunities from the sport. “Earlier we heard that sport climbing is confident it can contribute at least two gold medals from the participation of nine athletes,” said the man who is also Deputy Minister for Investment and Downstreaming. Todotua stated that each sport has different needs, so not all teams will arrive earlier at the organising or competition venue. The FPTI is sending nine athletes, comprising five men and four women, to participate in Asia’s largest multi-sport event. The men’s speed discipline features Veddriq Leonardo and Aditya Tri Syahria. The women’s speed discipline features Desak Made Rita Kusuma Dewi and Berthdigna Devi. The men’s lead discipline features Putra Tri Ramadani (Srondeng) and Raviandi Ramadhan. The women’s lead discipline features Sukma Lintang Cahyani and Alma Ariella Tsany. The men’s boulder discipline features Ravianto Ramadhan and Raviandi Ramadhan.
