Indonesian Climate Startups Selected as KINETIK Sweef Fellows Recipients
Nine Indonesian entrepreneurs developing climate and sustainability solutions have been selected as the second cohort of the KINETlar KINETIK Sweef Fellows, an Indonesia-Australia partnership programme. The nine companies include Sirsak, Charged, Boolet, Ikanesia, Jejakin, Rekosistem, Liberty Society, Z Bio, and Liquid8, which are developing solutions in waste reduction, circular economy, sustainable agriculture, emission measurement, and cleaner transportation.
The programme will provide mentorship to participants to strengthen their businesses and increase their readiness to attract investment. Natalie Mendelsohn, Infrastructure and Climate Change Counsellor at the Australian Embassy, stated that the support is intended to help participants build investment arguments and secure capital to expand the solutions they are developing.
Various companies within the programme offer different approaches to climate and circular economy challenges. Developed solutions include processing waste into value-added products such as animal feed, bio-fertiliser, and furniture, as well as assisting companies in recycling packaging and reducing emissions.
Other participants are working in environmental project monitoring and reforestation, expanding access to electric motorcycles, and repurposing plastic, cardboard, and textile waste. Several companies are also striving to reduce waste by creating markets for excess stock and surplus products.
The fellowship programme is part of the KINETIK Sweef Entrepreneurs Programme, run by Sweef Capital, a female-led impact investment fund. The programme aims to increase the number of gender-responsive climate startups in Indonesia through targeted business and technical support.
Each participant will receive mentorship to strengthen operations, measure climate, gender, and social impacts, and expand access to new markets. The support is also directed towards improving companies’ readiness to obtain both grants and investments.
The KINETIK Sweef Fellows programme brings together business development with sustainability agendas and the funding needs of growing companies. KINETIK itself is a flagship AUD 600 million partnership supporting sustainable infrastructure and climate investment in Indonesia over the next decade.
Through the mentorship provided, participants are expected to strengthen their business models while demonstrating the impact generated by their solutions. The programme serves as a form of Indonesia-Australia cooperation in promoting investment and business development related to climate and sustainability.
