JAKARTA — The Indonesian Embassy (KBRI) in Amman says it has responded to reports of a group of Indonesian tourists stranded in Amman, Jordan, due to the escalation in the Middle East.

The embassy rejected claims that it had not responded, noting that it had already offered alternative flight options for the group on Monday (2 March 2025) as previously stated to another group of religious pilgrims.

‘The embassy immediately responded and conveyed the alternative flight options that could be taken by the group, in the same way as it did for another group of spiritual pilgrims who had also contacted the embassy earlier,’ said KBRI Amman in a statement circulated by the Foreign Ministry on Thursday (5 March 2026).

Then on Tuesday (3 March 2026), the group contacted the embassy again to report that the Emirates flight had been cancelled.

The embassy said the group was having difficulty obtaining the suggested alternative flights.

However the embassy stated that to date there is indeed no plan to evacuate the Indonesian tourists.

‘The embassy has conveyed that at present there is no plan to evacuate the Indonesian tourists stranded in Amman. The embassy also asked about the group’s health and will facilitate medicines if needed,’ wrote the embassy.

The embassy said it remains actively communicating with and monitoring the situation of the group.

So far, 27 Indonesian pilgrims from other groups have left Jordan on alternative flights via Cairo.

Today the embassy will follow up on requests for medicines from the group.

‘The embassy is still seeking information on charter aircraft as per their request. In line with discussions with them last night, the embassy is preparing Indonesian dishes and will send them to them this afternoon,’ the embassy wrote.
