TANGERANG — An Indonesian citizen (WNI) from Tangerang, Segar (58), has reported frequently hearing explosion sounds from approximately one to two kilometres away from his residence whilst living in Tehran, Iran.

Segar, who works as an engineer in the Mehrabad International Airport district in Iran’s capital, stated that the sounds of explosions could be heard almost daily. “Perhaps one or two kilometres away,” said Segar when interviewed at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Tangerang on Tuesday, 10 March 2026.

According to him, the timing of the explosions is unpredictable and can occur at any time, from early morning to evening hours. “Morning. While sleeping. Sometimes at 4 o’clock, 6 o’clock, sometimes at 10 o’clock (local time),” said Segar.

This situation made him feel anxious throughout his stay in Tehran, with feelings of unease constantly emerging when preparing to sleep.

According to Segar, the situation in Tehran is currently not conducive due to ongoing attacks. “The situation is indeed not conducive. Currently, it is not conducive,” he said.

After waiting three days at a guest house, news of an evacuation from the Indonesian Embassy (KBRI) finally emerged. Segar then immediately registered himself to participate in the first evacuation cohort.

He considered evacuation through the Indonesian Embassy to be safer than conducting it independently. If evacuation were carried out alone, there would be no guarantee of safety during the journey out of the conflict zone. “It’s better to wait for the Embassy. That is safer, better coordinated, and more assured,” he said.

After participating in the evacuation process, Segar eventually arrived in Indonesia along with several other Indonesian citizens through Soekarno-Hatta International Airport.
